The most important event of the New York’s Calendar where millions of dollars worth of couture dresses, glittering diamonds and endless supplies of Manolos and Louboutins will be on display at the 5th Avenue today.
Met Gala, formally called the Costume Institute Gala and also known as the Met Ball, is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. It marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.
The event attracts the most iconic actresses and actors, fashion designers, Wall Street titans.
Met Gala is also Anna Wintour’s (editor-in-chief of American Vogue, at the photo below) personal pijama party which, in recent years, has raised more than $145 milion for the Costume Institute.
This year is going to be a very special one for the giant event’s history. Met Gala will be part of a documentary by the filmmaker Andrew Rossi, and recorded by 225 approved photographers, reporters and even tweeters and Snapchatters.
The gala will be hosted by Jennifer Lawrence and the Chinese actress Gong Li and thys year’s theme is “Chine: Through the Looking Glass”. The idea is to explore the Chinese aesthetics influence on Western fashion.

Now is time for the bad news. If you are a Kim Kardashian or Rihanna fan, you won’t be seeing any selfie of them on Instagram and Twitter. That is true! The use of all cell phones for photography and social media are banned from the event and the rule is for everyone presented there, which is overseen by Anna Wintour.
