Fashion Design Weeks Presents Hottest Fall Winter 2017 Beauty Trends – The colder season is approaching and that is no excuse for us not to keep taking care of our beauty. Of course not… So today we will be talking about the key beauty looks, trends and tips from the fall winter 2017 fashion shows. You have from minimalist options to the perfectly imperfect lip. Perfectly Imperfect Lips
Several of the fall winter 2017 shows saw imperfect-looking lips being painstakingly created backstage for just that effect. At Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Val Garland cited “just-snogged” lips as the inspiration for the smeared, messed-up pouts, whilst subtly worn-in colour and diffused edges were on show at Giambattista Valli, Temperley London, Monse and Topshop Unique.
Cool-Girl Hair
Gently tousled, cool-girl hair is rarely far from the catwalks, but this season it was more prominent than ever thanks to Sam McKnight debuting his eponymous hair styling range backstage at the shows, including a texturising spritz called Cool Girl. He used it to muss up the styles at Fendi, Dries Van Noten and Vivienne Westwood, whilst other hairdressers created similarly laid-back styles at the likes of Isabel Marant, Chloé, and Alexander Wang.
Over-Liner
Bold, black eyeliner made its mark on the fall winter catwalks at all four fashion weeks, but Milan was where it really took hold. At Prada, Pat McGrath topped the smudgy black eyes with a flash of blue, at Marni Kohl was drawn directly onto the waterline and at Versace, it was applied in great swoops from the inner corners of the eyes to the temples. And don’t even get us started on the gorgeously Sixties liner at Chloé…
Bleached Brows
Bold natural brows are going nowhere fast, but their bleached-out conterparts have also made a striking return this season. At Proenza Schouler, Diane Kendal created a monochrome look with barely-there brows, whilst unsaturated brows were paired with pastel eyeshadow at Mary Katrantzou and subtly “softened” for an almost pastel effect at Altuzarra.

Return Of The Statement Mani
The statement manicure is a key trend for autumn/winter 2017. There were checkerboard nails at House of Holland, crystal-studded talons at Gucci, chainmail accessories at Ryan Lo and pressed flower designs at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, whilst the Vogue office favourites were the logo manis at Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga.
Focus Point: The “Banana”
“Banana” is the curved crease in the eyelid onto which you can apply liner or shadow to create a wide-eyed effect. Think Sixties Twiggy with those cartoon-like arcs of liner – as make-up artists at Chanel and Moschino did when creating looks inspired by the era backstage. Colour was applied just above the lids to graphic effect at Prabal Gurung and Mary Katrantzou, whilst one of the best looks of the season saw Tom Pecheux drawing fuchsia liner along the top of the lids at Oscar de la Renta, before offsetting it with a pop of a contrasting hue washed across the lids and right into the banana crease.
Groomed Minimalism
A minimal, natural-looking beauty with a focus on glowing skin has been trending for more seasons than we can count, but for fall winter 2017 the look has evolved into something more sophisticated and nuanced. Whilst in previous seasons we’ve heard words like “raw” and “bare” backstage, this season was all about those finishing touches that make for a flawless, subtly groomed appearance. Look to Lanvin, Isabel Marant, and Max Mara for prime examples of the supermodel-esque glow, curled lashes and impeccably groomed brows that define the look.
Straight And Sleek
Pin-straight, high-shine hair is the new way to make an effort when it comes to your styling regime. At Topshop Unique, Duffy cited the Nineties as his inspiration, whilst Mary Katrantzou and Emilia Wickstead saw models sporting similarly sleek styles. And consider also the style’s ponytail counterpart – slicked close to the head and worn arrow-straight down the back as at Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera.
Rose-Tinted Beauty
At Bora Aksu, Altuzarra and Simone Rocha, a wash of prettiest pink gave a rose-like flush to cheeks, eyes and lips on the catwalk. Sheer coverage, soft shades and delicate application made for an ethereal beauty which felt utterly modern yet completely wearable at once. Elsewhere pink made its comeback in the form of magenta colour-pop lips at H&M, fuchsia liner at Oscar de la Renta and softly petal-stained mouths at Temperley London.
Sixties Lashes
The lesson with lashes for fall winter 2017 is simple – there is no middle ground. While minimalism still reigned on many of the catwalks, a delightful lash maximalism took hold at MSGM, Emilio Pucci and Chanel – think doll-like, boldly-coloured and Sixties-inspired styles respectively. For a more subtle take on the trend consider the clumpy, slept-in lashes at Topshop Unique or the surprisingly understated navy-blue mascara at Jason Wu.
